As the Memory Charm took effect, Will clearly observed that the Werewolf's magic structure had stopped repairing itself. The damage inflicted by the Cruciatus Curse remained exactly as it was.
Understanding dawned on Will. He had done things in the wrong order. First, he had to use the Cruciatus Curse to damage the soul and disrupt the magic structure. Then, by using the Memory Charm to erase a Wizard's sense of self, he could make that structure twist and break apart.
But how exactly did the two spells work together?
According to what Will had read, memories were anchored to both the body and the soul.
The Cruciatus Curse could damage the soul and destroy the memories anchored there. Did the Memory Charm, then, affect the memories anchored to the body?
Will rubbed his head. His understanding of the soul was still far too shallow, and he had no good way to continue. Was he supposed to erase the Werewolf's entire magic structure?
Could the Cruciatus Curse and the Memory Charm even do that?
Will narrowed his eyes. If he could go no further this way, he might have to try interfering with magic directly—or find a way to combine the Cruciatus Curse and the Memory Charm.
