Had Umbridge somehow become a normal person? Clearly, that was unlikely.
Though the students and professors had no idea why Umbridge had been harassing them less, they were all fairly pleased. At least they no longer had to see that disgusting woman during lessons.
Still, they had Lupin to thank for all this—and, of course, Will, Dumbledore, and a few other students.
It had all begun one afternoon.
Umbridge had no classes to teach, so she decided to harass a randomly chosen lesson and see whether she could find something else to use against a professor and drive them out of Hogwarts.
The thought still irritated her—why did Fudge insist on all this business with written warnings? Why not simply sack them as soon as she found something to use against them?

Umbridge's expression darkened. Will Behrens—that fellow actually dared to use his bloodline to blackmail her into giving him so many political resources.
Once she rose to power, she would have to deal with him first and teach him the price of greed.
But for now...
This information about Lupin was quite useful. She would have to investigate.
Umbridge stood, straightened her robes, slipped a pink Quill into her pocket, and took the roll of parchment she always carried
