Will glanced at the glasses on Harry's nose. "You've got another plan?"
Harry nodded. "If they take Hagrid away, there'll be no one to look after Grawp. He could cause a huge mess. Should we... tell Professor Dumbledore?"
Poor Harry still thought Dumbledore didn't know.
"There's no chance to do that right now," Will said, shaking his head. "But you can stay nearby. If they take Hagrid away, make sure Grawp isn't discovered. Bringing a Giant into Hogwarts alone would be enough to land Hagrid in Azkaban."
Speaking of Azkaban, not a word of what had happened there had spread. It looked as though Fudge and the others were determined to keep it buried. With the Ministry of Magic still under Fudge's control, hiding the news wasn't difficult.
The question was how much longer they could hide it. The truth would come out eventually.
As for Hagrid, Will wasn't worried in the slightest. Dumbledore could certainly protect him. The Ministry's attempt to outmaneuver Dumbledore was wishful thinking. They had simply forgotten how terrifying he could be, and they couldn't imagine the agreeable old man turning on them.
Harry and the others talked it over briefly and decided to stay nearby so they could help if needed.
Will didn't linger. He headed back toward the Castle with Sylvia.
Truthfully, Will wasn't worried about Hagrid or Grawp. There was no way Dumbledore would lose to that lot at the Ministry, especially when he had someone on the inside.
Will was more interested in getting something to eat and returning to his research. The Happiness Potion was extraordinarily complex.
"What are you thinking about?" Sylvia asked, giving Will's arm a squeeze.
"Research, of course. But..." Will rubbed his stomach. "Lunch is important too."
"You're not worried about Hagrid?"
"What's there to worry about?"
