After a little backroom deal with Snape, Will described the potion he had brewed as a defective experimental product. No one blamed Will, though, because almost everyone was glaring at Ron.

After all, Will had specifically told them not to touch his things when he wasn't around. It was simple common sense, just as no one would tamper with an unfamiliar potion Snape had brewed.

All the blame for what had happened to Harry fell on Ron. If he hadn't been so eager to boast to the girls about his "exploits" and carelessly brought back Will's experimental potion, none of this would have happened.

After all, every potion Will brewed had to be submitted to Snape for inspection.

Huddled in a corner, Ron looked at everyone's hostile gazes and wished he could turn into a bug and crawl into a crack in the floor.

"Given Potter's current condition, I don't think we should be so quick to decide what to administer. His circumstances are unusual, and there is nothing wrong with his magic. I suggest conservative treatment. We should only draw conclusions after careful study and observation."

Snape discussed the matter with Madam Pomfrey and Professor McGonagall.
