At half past nine that night, Draco crept into the brightly lit underground corridor.

He easily found a painting hanging in the corridor. It depicted a bowl of fruit.

Draco reached out and tickled a pear in the painting. It giggled, then turned into a green door handle. He turned the handle and stepped into the underground kitchens at Hogwarts.

As a member of the High Tower, he had known about the underground kitchens for ages, but had only visited a few times—he was no glutton like Ronald!

He soon spotted Will, who was writing something while eating from a plate of snacks the house-elves had prepared for him: that great English national dish, fish and chips, Scotch eggs, German sausages, fried calamari rings, and more...

Seeing Draco, Will pointed to the seat opposite him, motioning for him to sit down while he kept his head bent over his writing.

Draco sat down rather stiffly across from Will—he did not want to interrupt his studies.

Will wrote a few more lines, then looked up. As he asked a house-elf to bring them two glasses of grape juice, he told Draco, "Don't be so nervous. We can talk while we eat."

Draco glanced at the parchment beside Will's hand. "I can wait until you're finished."

"Finished?" Will looked a little blank, then understanding dawned on him. "Don't worry about it. I'm just writing a few papers to relax. I can easily write and chat at the same time. Just think of it as me watching a film while... oh, right, you've never seen a film. Anyway, all you need to know is that I'm relaxing."

Confusion spread across Draco's face—he could not understand what Will was saying. Was that English?
