If he could, Will would have liked Dumbledore and Voldemort to remain locked in a standoff until he reached the Supreme Realm.

Dumbledore would "die" in an attack by Snape, Harry Potter would be "gravely wounded" fighting Snape, and Scrimgeour would fall to Voldemort.

Voldemort's shadow would hang over the entire Wizarding World of England. Then Will would step forward, kill Voldemort, tear through that shadow, and bring hope back.

When the time came, the Ministry of Magic would spare no effort in praising Will and raising him to prominence.

Then Will could stand in the public eye and receive their adoration, gathering faith for himself.

He only needed Dumbledore to stay away at the crucial moment. For that, Will needed someone to keep him occupied.
