"Potter! Potter!"
Even when Will arrived at Snape's office that evening for extra Potions lessons, Snape was still muttering about Harry. Will went straight to a newly placed cabinet that held his potion ingredients.
"Professor, my Moonstone Powder is missing."
"I used it a couple of days ago. I'm short on Moonstone Powder myself, so forget the Calming Draught for now. Just make Doxy Repellent today." Snape rubbed his face, unusually refraining from a cutting remark.
Will began gathering Bundimun and Streeler ingredients. He was deftly chopping Dragon Liver when Snape suddenly spoke.
"Dumbledore tells me your Potion Transfiguration worked."
That can't be good, Will thought. Snape believed in Potions above all else. If he was bringing this up now, it probably meant trouble.
"Yes, Professor. Did you have any advice?"
Will braced himself and cut the Dragon Liver into pieces of the right size.
"Show me your Bone-Growing Charm later. First, finish the Doxy Repellent."
Brewing the Doxy Repellent went smoothly. Will had made it before and knew the process by heart; everything came easily, without a hitch.
Snape occasionally offered improvements of his own, which Will welcomed. They made the brewing easier and earned him a few experience points.
The Doxy Repellent had barely been finished when Snape pulled a cage from beneath his desk. The creature inside was covered in thick black hair and had shiny, beetle-like wings.
It was a Doxy, also known in the Wizarding World as a Biting Fairy.
At the moment, though, its wings and legs hung limp as putty.
Snape handed Will the cage. "I've removed all the bones from its legs."
Under Snape's astonished scrutiny, Will pointed his Wand. The Doxy's wings and legs stiffened again, and before long, he had restored its entire skeleton.
