His voice was wistful. "Tom, so that's what happened?"
"Behrens!" the face on the Diary roared at first, but soon he began hissing, trying to close Slytherin's Treasure.
The Trapdoor began to close, but Dumbledore waved his wand, and it stopped moving with a crack. The Chamber of Secrets remained exposed before the two men and the book.
"Behrens! Going to this old bumblebee will only ruin your future! You're a Dark Wizard through and through. He'll never let you off!" Tom's eyes bulged with rage. He could not believe Will had actually brought Dumbledore here!
"Will, is what Tom says true?" Dumbledore looked at Will.
"Professor, don't you already know everything?" Will blinked his silver-gray eyes, and he and Dumbledore exchanged smiles.
"Yes. I knew everything by the time Will put you into Lockhart's hands.
"Will came to me and explained the whole story very clearly. And he thought of something that had never occurred to me. Tom, I always believed you had found the method for making Horcruxes in the library's Restricted Section. I even inspected the entire Restricted Section again because of it. But I truly never imagined that you had learned how to make Horcruxes from the Chamber of Secrets Slytherin left behind."
Dumbledore surveyed the books left in the vast chamber. "Truly worthy of one of Hogwarts' founders—building such an enormous secret chamber underground, yet keeping it undiscovered for a thousand years. If not for Will, this chamber might have remained, perhaps causing another tragedy someday."
"You're not Dumbledore. Who are you?!"
"I am who I am, Tom. Your former Transfiguration teacher, the man who brought you from the orphanage into the Magic world."
"He uses dark Magic! He used the Imperius Curse
