"Are you looking for something?" Bathilda Bagshot sat in her rocking chair, rocking gently as she watched Jerry leaf through book after book. Over the past few days, Jerry had come to her study almost every day, constantly reading and searching for all kinds of material on the history of magic.

Jerry stopped what he was doing and looked up at Bathilda Bagshot, a flicker of hope and uncertainty in his eyes. He took a deep breath, hesitated for a moment, then asked, "Well... actually, I wanted to know whether any wizards throughout history have ever been curious about magical power itself. Or rather, has anyone ever explored everything about it in depth?"

There was an urgency in his voice, as though the question had troubled him for a long time. Bathilda Bagshot narrowed her eyes slightly, studying Jerry's face. After considering it for a while, she replied, "You want to know whether there's a limit to a wizard's magical power!"

"A very ambitious question. It seems the Sorting Hat was right to put you in Slytherin. I think if Gellert had attended Hogwarts instead of Durmstrang back then, he would have ended up in Slytherin too!"

Jerry stared in surprise at the smiling Bathilda Bagshot. In sharp contrast to her white hair and aged face, her eyes were shrewd, as though she knew what he was thinking!

"Oh, Jerry, it's really nothing remarkable. Any wizard with even a little ambition would think about this question. You're not the first person to ask me, either—even Dumbledore did when he was young! But you're the youngest of them all!" Bathilda Bagshot smiled faintly at his surprised expression.

"So the answer is going to disappoint me?" Jerry sighed softly, set down his book, and slowly took a seat.
