"You should know why I wanted to see you!" Jerry said evenly. He then poured three glasses of Pumpkin Juice and handed them to Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle.
"Is it about someone spreading information about your identity?" Malfoy watched Jerry's expression carefully and asked tentatively, "This has nothing to do with the Malfoy family. We only heard about it yesterday ourselves."
"I know this has nothing to do with the Malfoy family," Jerry said calmly. "I just want to know the whole story. How did you hear about it?"
Malfoy lowered his head, his voice subdued. "Yesterday afternoon, almost every pure-blood family received an anonymous letter. It explicitly said that Dumbledore was your grandfather and that you were the sole heir to the Dumbledore family."
"Was that all the letter said?" Jerry asked, his brow furrowing. "There wasn't any other information or any clues?"
Malfoy looked up at Jerry and explained, "My father showed me the letter. That really was all it said. I asked him why everyone would believe an anonymous letter so easily. He told me that once they'd seen your photograph and put it together with what the letter said, they wouldn't have any doubts. And your photograph is actually very easy to find!"
"My photograph?" Jerry paused, then realization dawned on him. "Right. The Daily Prophet published my photograph when I received the Order of Merlin, Third Class."
"Jerry, could this have something to do with those pure-blood families my father mentioned to you last time?" The moment the words left his mouth, Malfoy regretted them so much that he wanted to slap himself. Before the start of term, his father had repeatedly warned him to answer honestly if Jerry asked about the matter, but to keep his mouth shut if Jerry didn't bring it up.
