Jerry and Hermione stepped into the lavishly decorated Great Hall for Hogwarts' Halloween Leaving Feast, where a breathtaking sight awaited them.
Hundreds of pumpkins glimmered with candlelight like scattered stars; swarms of live bats wheeled overhead, lending an air of mystery and eeriness; orange banners blazed with flames, swaying lazily across the ceiling like colorful water snakes, heralding the revelry to come.
The tables were laden with mouthwatering dishes, all from different countries. Though Jerry and Hermione had eaten plenty of snacks and desserts in Hogsmeade, they still could not resist taking a helping of everything at the Leaving Feast.
At the staff table, Professor Lupin was all smiles, radiating his usual good cheer as he chatted animatedly with the diminutive head of Ravenclaw, Professor Flitwick. The two seemed to have an endless supply of things to discuss.
A trace of barely perceptible wariness showed in Professor Snape's expression. His eyes kept straying toward Professor Lupin, and those frequent glances seemed distinctly unusual, as though Professor Lupin might turn into a raging beast at any moment.
The Leaving Feast ended with a spectacular performance by the Hogwarts ghosts. They emerged from their hiding places in the walls and tables, formed a variety of unusual formations, and glided through the night air, bringing the Halloween festivities to a perfect close.
Among them, Gryffindor House's Nearly Headless Nick drew particular attention. He reenacted his own beheading once again, this time adding a creative touch by bringing out a guillotine he claimed was a Louis XVI collaboration model.
With his vivid narration and that chilling prop, Nick brought the harrowing events of his past to life, earning rounds of applause and cheers from everyone present.
Everyone had enjoyed the evening, except that, as they left the Great Hall, Malfoy shouted at Harry across
