"Your Eminence, from what you described, this creature's traits closely resembled those of the vampires in legends," Catherine said, her brow furrowed after she finished treating the wound on Jerry's shoulder.
"Vampires? Do those creatures really exist?" Surprise flickered across Jerry's face. "But I heard vampires were all afraid of sunlight. How could he move around during the day?"
"Indeed, vampires are usually described as pale-skinned humans with deep-set eyes. They survive on human or animal blood, possess extraordinary strength and speed, are most active at night, and fear sunlight intensely," Catherine explained.
"However, a few exceptionally powerful vampires can temporarily withstand the damage caused by sunlight." A trace of concern entered Catherine's voice. "If that really is the case, things could be rather troublesome. But you just mentioned that your spell struck him and injured him..."
Jerry paced through the suite's sitting room. He understood what Catherine meant. If he had really encountered a vampire powerful enough to move about in sunlight, how could he have injured him so easily?
"Your Eminence, you needn't worry too much." Catherine gently took Jerry's hand, offering him comfort. "This was my oversight. I never expected such a dangerous dark creature to slip aboard this ship."
"No." Jerry shook his head. "I'm just curious about what sort of monster he really is."
"I've already written to Alex Canterbury. He should be here soon." Catherine lowered her head and smiled, before a cold glint flashed through her eyes. No one could interfere... not even Dracula himself!
