At Dumbledore's old house, Jerry felt as though he had barely fallen asleep in his own bed when Hermione's gentle touch woke him.
"Wake up, Jerry. It's time to get up!" Hermione whispered.
Jerry opened his eyes groggily. Hermione was already dressed and standing beside the bed, holding a set of his clothes.
"Is it time already?" Jerry asked hoarsely, rubbing his eyes.
"Yes. We need to hurry!" Hermione set the clothes on the bedside table, walked to the window, and drew back the heavy curtains.
Outside, it was still pitch-black. Only a few stars stubbornly glimmered.
Jerry yawned and reluctantly climbed out of bed to get dressed.
"Go on down. I'll be right there."
Hermione nodded, left the room, and gently closed the door.
Jerry dressed quickly, washed up, and went downstairs to the kitchen. Hermione had already prepared breakfast at the table.
"Hermione, it's still early. We have time!" Jerry picked up a piece of toast that was still warm and stuffed it into his mouth. "Have you eaten?"
"Yes." Hermione nodded and set a glass of milk beside Jerry's plate. "I had breakfast and packed our bags before I came to wake you!" She rose, walked over to him, and straightened his collar.
Looking at the thoughtful girl before him, Jerry suddenly felt a pang of guilt. He wolfed down the food on his plate and drained the glass of milk.
"Ready?" Jerry stepped into the living room and took the backpack from Hermione's shoulder, slinging it over his own. A confident smile touched his lips. "We won't need Floo Powder this time. I have a more direct way."
As soon as he finished speaking, he snapped his fingers. The soft but potent sound rang through the air, as though he had plucked an invisible string
