After Pheobe introduced Gabrielle Delacour to Jerry, the little girl kept staring at him as though she had been enchanted.
"Is there something on my face?" Jerry touched his cheek in mild confusion and asked half-jokingly, "Or do I look strange?"
"No." Gabrielle quickly shook her head, an innocent smile spreading across her face. "I just think you're really handsome. Much better-looking than any of the boys at our school!"
At that, the Beauxbatons boys at the same table exchanged glances. Some choked on their own saliva, and coughs broke out all around them as their looks toward Jerry grew increasingly hostile.
"Heh!" Jerry gave an awkward laugh. He understood now: everyone in the Delacour Family was a sucker for a pretty face!
"My sister is three years older than you..." Gabrielle was just about to offer more of her "insights" when Pheobe cut her off.
"Gabrielle, eat your pudding!" Pheobe shot her a glare, scooped up a heaping spoonful of pudding, and stuffed it into Gabrielle's mouth to stop her nonsense.
"The elders in our family have spoiled Gabrielle. She tends to spout nonsense." Pheobe smiled at Jerry. "But she isn't entirely wrong. You're the best-looking boy I've ever met, and most importantly, you're completely unaffected by our bloodline!"
"Oh, I wouldn't say that," Jerry replied with great modesty. "I think I look perfectly ordinary!"
Pheobe and Gabrielle: ...
"Why did you drag me around the Great Hall earlier? Couldn't we have just come straight to Gabrielle?" Jerry asked Pheobe with a hint of curiosity.
"Obviously, I wanted to see who your little girlfriend at Hogwarts was!" A sly smile curled Pheobe's lips.
"I'm single!" Jerry looked at Pheobe in surprise. You've only just arrived at Hogwarts, and you're already playing games with me?
There was no point asking.
