Searing heat washed over the spectators like a tide. Even the winter wind seemed swallowed by the sudden heat wave, throwing everyone's sense of the seasons into confusion, as though they stood beneath the blazing summer sun.
In the arena, the damp earth dried and cracked in the blink of an eye as extraordinary energy surged through the air.
Before everyone's eyes, Jerry's figure was engulfed by a ring of dazzling, mysterious blue-violet flames. He seemed to merge with the light and heat, vanishing in an instant. Only that blazing mass of fire remained, heralding the beginning of an extraordinary transformation.
"ROAR!" A deafening dragon's cry suddenly tore through the sky, its sheer volume, oppressive force, and majesty far surpassing those of the Hebridean Black Dragon.
Then a pair of enormous wings spanning more than twenty meters spread slowly and gracefully within the dazzling curtain of searing flames, as though time itself slowed before them. The surrounding air warped under the ravaging heat, as if even space were making way for this astonishing sight.
An immense dragon of blue-violet flame, dwarfing the Hebridean Black Dragon, burst forth and soared into the sky beneath the eyes of the crowd.
"What spell is this? Dumbledore, you owe us an explanation! This is absolutely Dark Magic! Mr. Crouch, we should disqualify him!" Karkaroff pointed at the dragon above the arena and roared in disbelief.
"Jerry Green has not broken the rules, and we cannot disqualify him!" Barty Crouch Sr.'s voice was cold and hard. His expressionless face seemed out of place amid the noisy, excited, gasping crowd.
"With all due respect, Mr. Karkaroff, how do you define Dark Magic? Surely we cannot classify a spell as Dark Magic simply because it can hurt someone or appears immensely powerful?" Dumbledore said with a smile.
