After Fudge announced that the charges against Jerry and Harry had been dismissed, Dumbledore immediately rose and hurried out of the courtroom. The members of the Wizengamot stood as well, discussing what had just happened as they gathered their papers.

The courtroom buzzed with noise. Some even thought the Ministry of Magic might be about to undergo a change in leadership.

Shacklebolt also stood, respectfully removed his hat, and bowed slightly to Jerry at the center of the room before hurrying away.

"Jerry, why did Dumbledore leave so quickly? Didn't he have any instructions for us?" Harry's voice was full of surprise at Dumbledore's abrupt departure.

"He has far too much to do. He doesn't have a moment to spare!" Jerry explained. "Let's hurry and tell Mr. Weasley the good news. He's still waiting anxiously outside!"

"Can we really leave now?" Still doubtful, Harry walked toward the door. When no one stopped him, he quickened his pace until he was almost jogging.

"Mr. Weasley, all the charges have been dropped," Harry announced, relief washing over him. "Neither Jerry nor I will be expelled from Hogwarts!"

"Wonderful!" Mr. Weasley excitedly grasped Harry by both shoulders. "I knew you two would be all right!"

Just then, the courtroom doors opened again, and the members of the Wizengamot filed out.

"Good morning, Arthur." Madam Bones stopped and walked slowly toward the three of them.

"I've heard your name before, Mr. Green," she said.

"Susan Bones?"

"That's right. She's my niece." Madam Bones nodded gently. "She told me you were the finest student at Hogwarts, but from what I've seen today, you seem very different from her description."
