"Stay in the compartment! Don't come out!"

The moment Jerry spotted the Dementor, he reacted with lightning speed, shutting the corridor door to keep Hermione safe.

Then Jerry swiftly pulled his wand from his pocket and fixed a piercing gaze on the Dementor. Tension hung in the air, as though heralding a fierce battle.

Seeing Jerry draw his wand with such a grave expression, Hermione realized there was danger in the carriage. She took out her own wand and watched through the glass door.

When Hermione saw the Dementor outside, she recoiled several steps in fright.

The fear came from deep within her, leaving her feeling helpless.

Taking several deep breaths, Hermione struggled to suppress the urge to rush out and help, forcing herself to stay calm.

She knew Jerry could cast the Patronus Charm. Going out now would only get in his way and distract him.

Hermione gripped her wand tightly, praying silently. She trusted Jerry's abilities and believed he would successfully cast the Patronus Charm and defeat the Dementor.

For now, all she could do was stay calm and trust Jerry.

"Expecto Patronum!"

A warm light shone from Jerry's wand. A silvery-white Patronus flew out of the light at its tip and charged at the Dementor.

Caught in the Patronus's light, the Dementor shrieked and staggered back several steps.

Jerry wasn't about to let this opportunity slip away. Blood-red light flickered in his right pupil, while the Raven Patronus above his head blazed with an even more brilliant white light.

Its radiance was like the stars in a midsummer night sky, dazzling and blazing hot, driving away the surrounding cold and darkness.

The Dementor let out a piercing shriek, then tried to resist the silvery-white Patronus's attack with its dark power.

But the Patronus was far too powerful. Helpless against that force, the Dementor fled into the distant darkness as though it had encountered its natural enemy.

"Whew..."

After taking a deep breath, Jerry could clearly feel the temperature around him gradually rising, allowing his anxious heart to settle.

Once she saw that everything outside was calm again, Hermione opened the corridor door and ran over, her eyes red. She hugged Jerry tightly, tears sliding down her cheeks and onto his shoulder.

At that moment, her heart filled with gratitude and relief—gratitude for Jerry's courage and fearlessness, and relief from the fear and worry she had just endured.

Jerry stroked Hermione's hair, then gently patted her back and comforted her. "It's all right, Hermione. Don't cry. We need to hurry and check the other carriages to see whether there are any more Dementors."

At Jerry's words, Hermione wiped away her tears and looked up at him. She froze for a moment before asking, "Jerry, what happened to your eye? It's... it's so frightening."

Only then did Jerry realize what she meant. This was a change that had come with the upgrade to his Patronus Charm, but it wasn't his Patronus that had changed—it was Jerry himself.

Whenever he cast the upgraded Patronus Charm, Jerry's right eye turned the same blood-red color as his Raven Patronus's eyes.

In this state, his ability to sense and control magic improved tremendously.

The transformation gave Jerry keener combat instincts and more precise control over his spells.

After dismissing his Patronus, Jerry asked, "What about now? Is it still red?"

At his question, Hermione carefully examined his right eye again, then shook her head. "The red is gone. Your eye is back to its normal color!"

"Jerry, why did your eye turn like that?"

"Does it look ugly?"

"No, not really. It just makes me feel a little uneasy!"

Hearing that, Jerry explained, "It's because of the Patronus Charm. You saw my Patronus just now, didn't you? Doesn't it look a lot like its eyes?"

Hermione nodded. "It really does, but Jerry, are you sure you're all right? I don't think I've ever heard of a wizard who..."

"Well, perhaps it's just talent!"

Jerry led Hermione out of their compartment and headed toward the front, in the direction the Dementor had come from.

"Jerry, help! We've been attacked by a terrifying monster!"

Jerry had barely opened the carriage door when he heard Malfoy's cries for help.

The two of them ran over and found a scene of utter chaos. Goyle lay on the floor with vacant eyes, while Malfoy and Crabbe knelt beside him, tears streaming down their faces. Several Slytherin girls nearby were crying too.

Jerry hurriedly checked Goyle. He was still alive; it seemed the Dementor had taken a little suck out of him.

Looking at the bedraggled Malfoy, Jerry said, "Don't worry! Goyle's fine! Does anyone have any sweets or chocolate? Give him some."

At Jerry's words, Malfoy finally relaxed and slumped onto the floor.

Crabbe found a piece of chocolate nearby and handed it to Goyle.

Goyle took the chocolate and slowly bit into it.

As the taste of chocolate spread through his mouth, a little color gradually returned to his face, and his vacant gaze slowly regained its focus.

Crabbe breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that Goyle's condition was gradually improving.

"Malfoy, do you know why a Dementor would show up in a carriage full of Hogwarts students?"

Only then did Malfoy catch on. "Jerry, are you saying the thing that attacked us was a Dementor? How is that possible? Aren't they at Azkaban prison?"

Jerry gave him a puzzled look. "Aren't you from a pure-blood family? How do you not even recognize a Dementor? Did it take a little suck out of Goyle just now?"

Malfoy swallowed hard and nodded, then clutched Jerry's sleeve, his voice thick with tears. "What do we do, Jerry? The Dementor's right outside. We're going to die!"

Hearing Malfoy's words, the other students around them couldn't help bursting into tears again.

"All of you, shut up and keep quiet! I've already driven the Dementor away!"

"What? I'm a first-year Hogwarts student. Isn't it perfectly normal for me to know the Patronus Charm?"

Malfoy: "..."

Everyone: "..."

Looking at their stunned faces, Jerry asked, "Malfoy, have you notified the school or the Ministry of Magic?"

Jerry's question finally snapped Malfoy out of his stupor. "I used Pansy's owl to send a message just now, but I sent it to my dad!"

"Those damned Ministry of Magic officials! I'm definitely telling my dad. I'll have them all sent to Azkaban to keep those damned Dementors company!"
