Covered in soot, Jerry surveyed the scorched room, then looked at the Ebony Wand in his right hand and gave that hand a hard slap.
"One day, Fiendfyre's going to be the death of me. Why can't I keep this hand under control?"
Jerry had had Grindelwald's notebook for several days. He had studied every spell in it except Fiendfyre and Protego Diabolica, and had practiced each of the Three Unforgivable Curses four or five times.

Jerry hated to admit it, but as he practiced the Three Unforgivable Curses, he found them... unexpectedly easy to use.
What was all that about needing negative emotions? Jerry had none, yet the curses came to him at will—especially the Killing Curse. He no longer even needed to say the incantation. A thought and a lift of his wand sent green light shooting out!
That talent was downright terrifying!
These past few days of practicing Dark Magic had given Jerry a new appreciation of his frightening talent. That was why he had been unable to resist trying Fiendfyre tonight—and why the room now looked like this.
Fiendfyre had proved far more violent than Jerry expected. Fortunately, he had used the unwieldy Ebony Wand. Otherwise, he might have destroyed the Room of Requirement tonight.
Even if Dumbledore had not come after him, Jerry would have regretted it bitterly.
