At Orochimaru's reminder, Tsunade's pupils narrowed slightly. In her view, even if Uchiha Yi did not want to become Hokage now, countless people would push him into the position.
After all, Uchiha Yi's strength had already outstripped everyone else in the village, and he was still growing. Before long, the gap would surely become insurmountable. If he reached Madara Uchiha's level, even all of Konoha together would probably be no match for him.
Under those circumstances, refusing to let Uchiha Yi become Hokage would amount to targeting him.
The strongest person did not necessarily have to become Hokage, but once someone became terrifyingly powerful, there was no other choice.
Yet on closer consideration, Uchiha Yi still faced quite a few obstacles if he wanted to become Hokage. There was the Uchiha Clan's longstanding problem, for instance. How could he become clan leader without resorting to violence and wiping out the current clan leader's entire family? Then he would need everyone's support to become Hokage. Throughout that process, there was no guarantee Shimura Danzō and his ilk would not pull some underhanded stunt.
Perhaps I need to do something.
Tsunade had indeed said at first that she would not explicitly help Uchiha Yi become Hokage, but things had changed now.
I can't just let everyone target Uchiha Yi, can I?
"I understand." Tsunade gave Orochimaru a meaningful look.
Orochimaru chuckled. He knew Tsunade had understood what he meant.
As for betraying Danzo, Orochimaru could not care less. The man wanted to drive a wedge between him and Uchiha Yi, unaware that Orochimaru did not crave the position of Hokage nearly as much as Shimura Danzō imagined. On the contrary, Orochimaru saw that Shimura Danzō was brimming with ambition—ambition for the Hokage's seat.
Orochimaru had a feeling that Shimura Danzō's ambition was
