Background / History

After Kinkaku and Ginkaku’s attack on Konoha’s peace delegation, A sent Tobirama Senju a letter apologizing for their actions. He reaffirmed the peace agreement and proposed visiting Konoha to negotiate lasting border rules 7. A then led the Kumogakure delegation to the village, where civilians greeted them with insults and violence. His shinobi held back rather than jeopardize the talks 9.

At the negotiations, A rejected Konoha’s initial demands for two billion ryō in reparations and its scientific ninja-tool technology. He instead offered a public apology, one billion ryō over five years, and the tool blueprints in exchange for the return of the Six Paths Tools. Tobirama accepted, concluding a nonaggression treaty 10.

A later asked who had killed Ginkaku. He praised Kagami Uchiha when Tobirama identified him, but privately worried that a fighter so young could become a greater threat to Kumogakure 10. Later, Ōnoki considered A’s watchfulness over Iwagakure an obstacle to personally entering the Land of Grass conflict 49.
