Joshua: "..."

"Don't get carried away." Ye Chuqi looked stern. "There's no rush. You can't even control the energy in your own body yet. If you take in more now, are you trying to get yourself killed?"

Joshua really hadn't thought that far ahead. He had been so excited to sense Magic Elements for the first time. Under Ye Chuqi's stern lecture, he lowered his head and muttered, "I'm sorry."

"You don't need to apologize to me. I wouldn't be sad if you died, and I wouldn't lose anything." But Aiton would suffer a terrible loss and cry his heart out. Ye Chuqi sighed and said, "Until you can control the power inside you, don't do anything rash. Got it?"

"Okay," Joshua answered dejectedly.

"If you've got nothing to do, come out for a walk. Stay cooped up in that carriage much longer and you'll start growing mushrooms."

At her words, Joshua touched his face uneasily. Things were moving in the right direction, but he could only barely keep the poison from growing worse. His face was still golden, and he felt sure he would draw too many strange looks if he went outside. He didn't have the courage.

Ye Chuqi patted the young master's shoulder and said earnestly, "If it feels too awkward, you can wear a mask. But come to think of it, your face already looks like you're wearing one, so there's nothing to worry about!"

Joshua's eyes went blank for a moment. Why on earth did he think she had a point?

So the next day, the young master asked his father for a riding beast and followed beside Ye Chuqi with his back straight. He looked terribly stiff, though, staring dead ahead
