"With our strength, if we really attacked you, you'd be corpses before you could blink. Pop! Just like that, you'd never move again!"

Kailan wanted to remind Ye Chuqi not to say such brutal things with such a cute face and obedient tone. No one would believe her.

The people before them certainly didn't. At a signal, a burly man stepped forward to stop Ye Chuqi. Before his hand could land on her shoulder, she seized his arm. She didn't even need a complicated joint lock; she simply crushed his bone in her grip.

"I'm serious. You don't believe me? I can crush you without even drawing my sword."

She meant "crush" literally. The break was clean, and prompt treatment should prevent any lasting damage. It would just hurt badly—and leave a considerable psychological scar.

As the man screamed his lungs out, everyone present seemed to feel a stab of pain themselves. They sucked in a breath and stumbled back, opening a gap in the circle around the three of them.

Kailan and Kagel exchanged a glance. Before Ye Chuqi could make another threat, they each grabbed one of her arms and bolted.

Ye Chuqi: "..." This wasn't how I'd planned it!

Kailan even tried to comfort her. "There's no need to argue with them."

Ye Chuqi almost laughed in anger. She twisted her arms free with a strength the two young men couldn't resist, then slapped them both on the back. They stumbled forward, and by the time they regained their balance, her icy voice came from behind them. "No need to argue with them? Is that why you let a bunch of people trap you in an alley? If I hadn't come, were you planning to settle this by handing over your money and yourselves, or what?"

Kailan
