Little White tore the Advanced Contract Scroll apart with one swipe of its paw. Gaines had to take another look at the tiny Beast Companion perched on Ye Chuqi's shoulder. The little creature seemed to have nothing going for it but its looks. Could it really be that powerful?
From then on, Gaines addressed Little White quite sincerely as "Lord Little White," and Little White accepted the title with its head held high.
Little White had only been absent when Ye Chuqi and Joshua signed the Advanced Contract Scroll. If it had been there, it never would have allowed that to happen. Whether it was an Advanced Contract or the legendary divine Contract, both were little tricks of the Light God.
"Captain Red Beard has arrived on the island, so I imagine Miss Ye will be leaving the Thirteen Misty Islands soon." Gaines was only passing by, but he could guess why San San had come looking for Little White. He just hadn't expected Ye Chuqi to move so quickly.
She didn't seem reluctant to leave at all.
What he didn't know was that Ye Chuqi had discovered the Island of Inheritance held little that Eldest Senior Brother had left behind, apart from the puppet-like Coroa. Even the accounts in those books were largely Coroa's own recollections.
Eldest Senior Brother had left her no message, not a single word, though he had occasionally mentioned her to Coroa. There were also the resources sealed beneath the sea.
When Ye Chuqi first realized this, she was downcast for quite a while. San San had been the one to comfort her. "Maybe Eldest Senior Brother didn't leave a message because he thought you'd meet again someday and wanted to tell you everything himself?"
Ye Chuqi had only muttered, "Even if we meet again,
