Xiaojiu had no idea what Ye Chuqi was laughing about. All he could do was gently pat her back, awkwardly trying to help her catch her breath.
Ye Chuqi waved a hand, her eyes brimming with tears of laughter. Hearing "Senior Year Three, Class Five" had given her such a strong sense of having traveled to another world that it instantly broke her immersion. Then she imagined calling the Imperial Capital Academy's Junior Class "Junior Three" and its Intermediate Class "Middle Two," which also meant being an edgy adolescent, and she simply couldn't stop laughing.
Letting her imagination run wild was the original sin.
"Sorry..." Ye Chuqi finally managed to compose herself, though laughter still lingered in her eyes. Her dazzling expression was almost impossible to look at directly. "Go on."
Kang Nan lowered his eyes. How was he supposed to go on now?
"I'm Ye Chuqi, and this is Xiaojiu." After briefly introducing herself, Ye Chuqi asked about something that had made her very curious: why students from the Imperial Capital Academy were here. "I know you're all students from the Imperial Capital Academy." She pointed at their academy uniforms. "But your academy assessments usually take place on the outskirts. How did you end up this far in?"
They were all children, so their assignments couldn't be very complicated. The academy wouldn't let them venture this deep into danger; losing even one of these children would be a tremendous loss. And there wasn't even a teacher accompanying them, only an older student. That made it all the more unbelievable.
At the mention of this, Kang Nan's expression grew complicated. "Well, that's a long story."
"Then make it short?" Ye Chuqi sat on the ground with her arms around her knees, tilting her head as she looked at Kang Nan.
