Qiao Ranran: "Sorry, I really don't!"
Qiao Ranran had no intention of playing along. She yanked the quilt over herself and wrapped up tight, refusing to argue with Pei Ling anymore. She couldn't beat him in a fight or an argument, and somehow everything he said sounded reasonable. She might as well go to sleep.
Pei Ling looked at the bundle that was Qiao Ranran and smiled. He gathered her into his arms, quilt and all, and closed his eyes.
This place truly wasn't suited to cultivation. A Spiritual Cultivator couldn't absorb a scrap of Spiritual Qi here; simply keeping Demonic Qi from invading was hard enough. Even with his protection, Qiao Ranran couldn't stay long in the Demon Realm. Once the Spiritual Power inside her ran out, she would have no way to resist the Demonic Qi—at the thought of Qiao Ranran turning demonic, Pei Ling's gaze went unfocused for an instant.
Pei Ling hesitated. But the young woman bundled in his arms had already sunk into deep, sweet sleep.
Qiao Ranran had thought she couldn't possibly fall asleep. She was deep in the Demon Realm, in the Demonic Cultivators' stronghold, with the inscrutable Pei Ling beside her. Yet not long after she pulled up the quilt, she fell asleep—and seemed to sleep soundly at that.
The instant she woke and saw the quiet, gentle face beside her, Qiao Ranran's heart jolted. She must have passed out last night, not fallen asleep. Why else would she still feel so dizzy?
After all, Pei Ling's face was hard to resist, whether in profile or asleep.
So Qiao Ranran gazed at Pei Ling's face and sank into thought. When he doesn't talk, that face of his is actually quite nice.
Pei Ling suddenly opened his eyes. Qiao Ranran couldn't look away
