Background and History

Guai Guai was cast into the Demon Realm’s Abyss because of its incomplete bloodline. In Pei Ling’s previous life, they met there while both were struggling to survive; their encounter began with a fight and became a lasting bond 132 133.

In the current life, Pei Ling returned for Guai Guai with food already prepared. He left the youngling inside a protective Formation with a mountain of Demon Beast meat, then continued feeding and training it as it grew. Qiao Ranran also cared for Guai Guai, making food and pills for it 133 134 149. When its bloodline began awakening in Demon Glow Forest, Pei Ling moved the group away from other cultivators because the advancement would expose Guai Guai’s Demonic Qi 252.

Appearance

Guai Guai’s bloodline defect gave it a misshapen, initially top-heavy body. Growth improved its proportions without making its face less distinctive 133 149 203.

• One enormous head in place of a three-headed hound’s usual three 132.
• A mouth extending almost to the back of its head, with narrow eyes; after its Taotie awakening, another pair of eyes appeared on its shoulders 208 258.
• Thick fur that Qiao Ranran sometimes parts or ties up; the hairstyle helped Pei family children overcome their fear of it 178 204.

Personality

Guai Guai is obedient, food-motivated, and affectionate toward Pei Ling, though it also fears his reprimands. It was initially wary of getting close to Qiao Ranran because it feared Pei Ling’s reaction, but later relied on her for comfort and protection 149 260 278.

Its intimidating appearance is a poor guide to its temperament. Guai Guai patiently carried Qiao Ranran through a crowd, tolerated the Pei family children’s attention, and did not retaliate when a much smaller Black Jade Turtle bit it 204 208 280.

Devouring

• Can eat a wide range of food and absorb it as strength; Pei Ling relied heavily on feeding it to overcome its early weakness 133 182 244.
• After awakening, can absorb most attacks aimed at its body or Divine Soul and reflect the absorbed force at twice its strength 292.

Innate Domain

• Awakened during the Demon Glow Forest tribulation. Within the domain, Guai Guai drained Wen Ziheng’s Spiritual Power and physical strength and devoured falling tribulation lightning 258.
• Can suppress opponents at the same level to varying degrees, devour their attacks, and target particular opponents 292.

Defense and Combat

• Had tough skin and a sturdy body even before its bloodline awakened, though its early fighting ability was limited 182 211.
• Its awakened defenses are formidable among beings at the same cultivation level. Pei Ling judges that opponents below Void Refinement are no trouble for it 260 292.
• Has trained alongside Qiao Ranran and Tao Doudou and can act promptly at Qiao Ranran’s call 211.

Relationships

• Pei Ling — Guai Guai’s contracted owner and longtime companion. He feeds, trains, and protects it, but his harsh methods and possessiveness also frighten it 132 149 252.
• Qiao Ranran — caretaker and frequent rider. She feeds and grooms Guai Guai, defends it from unfair attacks, and is the person it seeks when frightened 160 208 278.
• Yan Qingsui — friendly companion who offers Guai Guai food and sometimes coaxes it to follow him 178 182.
• Tao Doudou — training and combat companion; Guai Guai helps her face stronger opponents 211 292.
• Black Jade Turtle Xiao Yu — bit Guai Guai after mistaking it for a threat to Qiao Ranran. Guai Guai did not fight back and waited for Qiao Ranran to intervene 279 280.
