Guai Guai, however, was startled when Pei Ling's grip suddenly tightened. It jerked its head up to look at him, then obediently settled back down.
Qiao Ranran pressed her lips together. "Was there some irreconcilable conflict?" she asked stiffly.
Pei Ling gave a soft laugh and pulled her into his arms. His nose almost touched hers as he said coldly, "Those old fellows were too annoying. They wanted to oppose me, so wiping them out was easy enough."
Though the Profound Heart Sects that fell into his hands had been even more diminished than they were now. Ji Qingming had long since died, and Qi Zhuoyu was the Sect Leader. The gulf in their cultivation was too great. Neither Nie Gui nor Xi Lingge had taken disciples, and the entire sect posed no threat to him.
