Qiao Ranran: Everyone had two faces.
The Demon Race members sensed Nan Xun's aura and froze. They exchanged glances, each seeing the same shock in the others' eyes. No longer bothering to hide, they appeared before Pei Ling and the others.
Of course, their attention was chiefly on Nan Xun, who carried the aura of their own kind.
Their leader had a pair of furry, pointed ears and distinct blue-green Beast Patterns on his face. He looked Nan Xun up and down, trying to spot something amiss. "You're one of the Demon Race. Why are you mixed up with humans?"
Nan Xun narrowed his round eyes.
Qiao Ranran coughed twice. "He can't speak, but I can explain."
The blue-green-patterned demon glared at her. "You don't get to speak here!" Before he had finished, he let out a scream and flew backward, toppling a broad swath of Demon Glow Trees.
Pei Ling flicked his fingers and smiled with particular warmth. "She's the only one who gets to speak here."
Everyone, human and demon: "..."
Even Qiao Ranran thought Pei Ling had gone too far—far too handsomely!
Nan Xun had originally planned to sneak in and wait for the right moment to lay everything before the Demon Race. Most importantly, he would have to defeat his "elder brother" outright before they would listen to him. Among the Demon Race, the strong were supreme. If he lost, then no matter what his "elder brother" had done to him, it would only prove his own incompetence. None of the Demon Race would pursue the matter.
But Guai Guai's sudden advancement had disrupted that plan. In Qiao Ranran's eyes, the plan had been muddled and utterly pointless anyway. They had not even reached the Demon Race settlement, and its people had already come to them.
