Continental History!

In the library!

Yang Que kept flipping through history books, one after another. Some covered the past decade, some the past century, and some even the past millennium...

As he read, his expression changed again and again. He had never imagined Douluo Continent had changed so much. It was no longer the Douluo Continent from the original story!

Over a thousand years ago, a vast number of meteorites had struck Douluo Continent. The entire continent had seemed to face the end of the world! The impacts had shattered it into pieces, and it had taken centuries to recover its former shape. Even now, the impact sites were terrifying to behold, like enormous abysses!

There had been benefits as well as harm. The impacts had changed the quality of Soul Power and transformed the Soul Beasts of Douluo Continent. Beast Cores had begun to form inside them. Soul Masters could use those cores for cultivation or for Alchemy, where they served as a principal ingredient!

Over a thousand years ago, sects had stood everywhere, great and small beyond counting. That impact had wiped out the weaker sects. Even stronger sects had fallen into decline. Only those with deep foundations, such as Spirit Hall, the Clear Sky Sect, and the Nine Treasures Glazed Tile Sect, had survived, and they too had suffered grievous losses! On the whole, though, the benefits had outweighed the harm. It had spurred Douluo Continent's development. The strong survived; the weak were swept away!

Some meteorites had landed on the surface, where the survivors found and put them to use. Others had sunk deep beneath the continent and vanished!

The meteorites that had been recovered contained the Body-Refinement Manual and the Alchemy Manual. Strangely, every recovered meteorite contained those same two manuals! That was how the Pill Sect and the Body Sect came to exist. After a thousand years of development, their strength had grown nearly equal to that of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, one of the Upper Three Sects. They might even have surpassed it by a hair!

Interesting! I never expected Douluo Continent to change this much. Could it have something to do with my arrival here? I thought it would be more or less like the original story, but the changes are enormous! Now this is a challenge! Yang Que licked his lips, his face alight with excitement.

Wait! For meteorites to reach Douluo Continent, shouldn't they have passed through the Divine Realm first? Was the Divine Realm smashed to pieces too? Or were the powerful legacies kept there, while these scraps and leftovers were simply allowed to fall onto Douluo Continent and speed its development?

If that's the case, things are getting interesting! Yang Que stroked his chin as he pondered.

And that was indeed what had happened, though not quite as he imagined. The Divine Realm had been shattered by the impacts, but the Five Great God Kings had joined forces to repair it and restore it to its former state. Now the Divine Realm was busy refining divine pills to increase its strength!

The Divine Realm!

"God of Life! How is it? Have you refined one yet?" A middle-aged man dressed in blood-red came up to a woman in a green robe and questioned her.

The God of Life glanced at him. "Asura God, you're here. I have refined the pill, but it's only first-grade divine rank. It won't do us God Kings any good. It's only useful to Fourth-Level and Third-Level Gods."

"If we want to refine a stronger pill, I don't think I can do it alone. I'll need Little Purple and a host of First-Level Gods to help."

"Mm. All right! I'll send word for them to come. If we can refine stronger pills, I believe our strength will soon break through to the level of Ancestral Gods. Then we won't have to worry about the Demon Realm anymore!" The Asura God nodded and headed outside.

The God of Life watched him leave and fell into thought. Where did these Alchemy manuals come from? They're so profound! Could there be a plane even higher than the Divine Realm and Demon Realm? Will this prove a blessing or a curse?

The God of Life slowly closed her eyes and considered the Divine Realm's future.

Yang Que closed the book and slowly absorbed the history he had just learned.

When he opened his eyes, something occurred to him. He took a red crystal from his backpack!

It was the crystal he had found in Flender's shop. He had bought it because it seemed strange and resonated with his Martial Soul. Later, no matter what he tried, he could not break it, so he had let the matter drop!

Now Yang Que took it out and examined it carefully once more. Could this crystal also be a meteorite that struck Douluo Continent? There was nothing like it in the original story! But what does it do?

Right! I have a system. Why don't I ask it? Yang Que slapped his forehead, suddenly feeling like an idiot.

"System! What is this crystal?" Yang Que asked.

"Oh? The host finally remembers what I'm here for!"

Yang Que scratched his head awkwardly. He did not usually rely much on the system. Unless he had a particular need, he rarely used it!

"My records identify this crystal as a Blood Demon Stone," the system said.

"A Blood Demon Stone?" Yang Que's interest was piqued.

"That's right. It's formed from countless quantities of blood and demonic energy. It contains tremendous power. If it explodes, it could destroy a city!" the system explained.

"That terrifying? This tiny crystal holds that much power?" Yang Que exclaimed.

"If I keep it near me, could it blow me up?" His hand trembled, and a flicker of panic seized him.

"No. It's normally quite stable. It might explode only when it encounters blood—large amounts of blood!" the system said.

"Oh? Then why does it resonate with my Soul-Slaying Sword Martial Soul?" Yang Que asked the question that had been troubling him.

"Because it can raise the grade of your Martial Soul!" The system dropped that bombshell without warning.

"What? It can raise my Martial Soul's grade? How is that possible?" Yang Que stared, eyes wide with disbelief.

The requirements for raising a Martial Soul's grade were exceedingly strict! In the original story, Tang Shan had obtained many Immortal Herbs from Dugu Bo before the Martial Souls of the Shrek members underwent dramatic changes. How could Yang Que not be stunned to hear that this little crystal could raise his own Martial Soul's grade?

"Uh... don't get excited too soon, host. This small piece alone can't raise its grade! You'd need at least ten jin of it, along with a great deal of blood and demonic energy. Only then could your Martial Soul reach Red Supreme-Grade!" The system poured a bucket of cold water over his excitement.

"I see. Then I guess there's no chance. This piece weighs a jin at most!" Yang Que sighed and shook his head. He had gotten excited for nothing!

"There's no need to lose heart, host. If one such crystal exists on Douluo Continent, there could be a second, or even more," the system consoled him.

"True. Thinking about it now will only cause me trouble. Forget it. If I find more, I'll count myself lucky; if I don't, that's fate." Yang Que relaxed.

He returned all the books to their shelves!

The arrival of pills might make the situation on Douluo Continent change even faster. At the next Soul Master Tournament, a Four-Ring Soul Ancestor might no longer count as a top contender! There could be Soul Kings, even Soul Emperors!

I need to grow stronger, and fast. For my parents, for Zhu Zhuqing, and for myself! Without strength, I can't protect anything!

Yang Que gazed toward the distant horizon. The weight on his shoulders suddenly felt far heavier!

Then the corners of his mouth lifted. Now this is interesting! If everything were just like the original story, there'd be no challenge at all. Without exaggeration, I could take on every member of the Spirit Hall Golden Generation by myself right now!

But with pills in the picture, the result might be different. Spirit Hall will throw its full support behind the Golden Generation. Their strength might advance by leaps and bounds!

I need to train faster, obtain my Fourth Soul Ring as soon as possible, and head out to gain experience! I'll aim to reach Soul Emperor before I turn fifteen!

With that, Yang Que ran toward the Star Dou Great Forest. He did not even stop to say goodbye to the others at Shrek. He was afraid Zhu Zhuqing would hate to part with him and insist on coming along. He could not allow that!

And so Yang Que set out once more on his own journey...

...Brothers, I've made up the update I owed you!!! Don't say I still owe you one!
