The group followed Sea Horse Douluo across the Ring Sea and arrived at the foot of Sea God Mountain.
Sea God Mountain stood in the very center of the Ring Sea, surrounded on all sides by water. The lone island rose some five hundred meters high. A faint golden glow shrouded the entire mountain—not sunlight, but light radiating from the mountain itself. It looked so, so, so sacred!
At the summit stood the Sea God Hall, a building fashioned entirely from white jade. Square in shape and crowned with a dome, it was ringed by a row of translucent white stone pillars.
Directly before the Sea God Hall, white stone steps followed the slope down, one after another, from the summit all the way to the foot of the mountain.
"How hard can these steps be? I'll go first!"
Before the words had faded, Bai Chenxiang charged toward the steps, taking the lead.
The first few steps were easy enough. The force pressing down on her was slight, and she walked as though on level ground. But the higher she went, the heavier the pressure grew, and her balance began to falter. She tried to stop, but she had charged too fast. She staggered from side to side and finally toppled onto the steps with a yelp.
Xiao Wu doubled over laughing. "Xiangxiang, you're hopeless! You fell after just a few steps."
Ning Rongrong covered her mouth as she laughed. "Exactly. You charged up fast, and you fell just as fast."
Bai Chenxiang's face burned. Propping herself halfway up, she turned and glared at Xiao Wu. "If you're so good, you try it!"
"Fine, I will!" Xiao Wu rolled up her sleeves. "Watch me."
Without another word, she sprang up the mountain, her long legs pumping as she bounded up
