"Ding-dong! Ding-dong!"
Rubick held Robin's hand and rang the doorbell at his parents' home.
His mother soon came out. When she saw the two of them, her face lit up with joy.
"Come in! Your dad's still at work. I'll call him right away!"
Rubick stepped forward and hugged her. She was so happy that she burst into tears.
She wiped her eyes hastily. "How long are you staying this time?"
"Quite a while," Rubick said. "I've got two years of leave before my next mission."
His mother took Robin's hands. "Two years is good, two years is good! When are you two going to have the wedding?"
"We're planning it now," Rubick said.
Robin smiled as his mother held her hands, letting the two of them talk.
"The sooner, the better," his mother said. "In a few months, Robin won't be able to hide that belly."
"Mom!"
His mother laughed. "I've been through it myself. One look at Robin's belly and I can tell she's four months along."
That was also why Rubick wanted to bring Robin back to Blue Star. At the very least, their child should be born here. Growing up on Blue Star would give the child a carefree childhood and a chance to keep that innocent spirit.
His mother hurried off to get the phone. "This afternoon, we'll go to Golden Rooster Mountain and find a fortune-teller to pick an auspicious date. Then we'll write the invitations and tell the relatives."
"Oh, and you should start letting your old classmates know too," she added.
"Forget it. I hardly had any friends anyway."
Rubick had been practically invisible at school, and his grades had been average. He hadn't made many friends after entering the workforce either, so he might as well leave his classmates out. None
