Cyrik's arrival drew the attention of many of the pirates' strongest fighters, especially the officers of the Flying Pirates.
Cyrik had killed "Titan" Atlas. No one hated him more than "Golden Lion" Shiki and "Uranus" Reinhardt, followed by the rest of the Flying Pirates.
As one of the Flying Pirates' Three Giants, Atlas had been respected by many of their members.
Cyrik had made himself the focus of their fury.
Meanwhile, two Top Combatants from the World Government had killed more than a dozen Great Pirates between them. By the time the pirates reacted, they had already lost considerable fighting strength.
The pirates seemed to have plenty of High-End Combatants. Anyone from a pirate with a bounty over a hundred million to someone nearing the level of a Top Combatant could count as one.
But the deaths of more than a dozen such fighters had a substantial effect on the battle.
At the same bounty, a pirate from the New World was several times more formidable than one from the Four Seas.
In some respects, pirates from the Four Seas caused greater losses, making it easier for their bounties to rise.
But with so many monsters above them in the New World, pirates there struggled to raise their bounties unless they achieved something exceptional.
For those monsters, though, raising a bounty was as easy as eating and drinking.
The New World was full of powerful fighters. Some pirates had deceptively low bounties but tremendous strength.
Without the support of the many forces based in Mary Geoise, the World Government could never have held back the pirates' fierce assault.
Unlike the Marines and the World Government, the pirates never had to worry about a Combat Power Gap.
Even if one group fell, more pirates would rise to take their place.
