As the news arrived from Fish-Man Island, alarms blared. The entire G-1 Fortress seemed to jolt awake.
"Only the Roger Pirates?"
"That's right!"
The Allied Forces were ready to depart at any moment. Though the crews aboard the warships were resting, they could spring into action the instant they opened their eyes.
The warships could set sail within minutes.
They had prepared for this operation down to the last detail, accounting for anything that might slow them down.
Even the main force was resting aboard the warships.
"Roger Pirates sighted. They've left Fish-Man Island. We're moving to intercept them."
As the reports rang out, warship after warship sailed out of the naval port.
"Roger's a crafty one, setting off in the dead of night."
Garp yawned and grinned as he complained.
It was two in the morning, and the night was at its darkest.
"They have a better chance of escaping at night."
Strategist Tsuru approved of the Roger Pirates' decision. She would have done the same.
"Let's go after them. He won't get away this time."
It was as if the Roger Pirates had been fitted with a tracker. The Marines knew where they were at all times.
But the Roger Pirates showed no sign of surfacing. They kept sailing through the deep sea, changing course now and then.
The warships followed, never letting them slip beyond tracking range.
"If the Roger Pirates want to run, let them. Keep about six or seven kilometers back. Don't let them notice us."
"They won't last more than two days."
Tsuru directed the warships' course and took a leisurely sip of tea.
