Ch. 361Typhon Attacks
Plot points and events
- G-4 Fortress, a heavily defended Navy trade hub, faces a coordinated pirate threat. The Navy is stretched across multiple fronts and hesitates to concentrate its strongest fighters against Typhon.
- Navy leaders believe Typhon may rival the young Charlotte Linlin in strength, leaving only Garp, Sengoku, and Zhikai able to confront him—and perhaps only Garp and Sengoku able to overpower him.
- Typhon’s Monster Legion approaches unseen beneath a vast cloud bank. Disappointed by the Navy’s failure to detect them, Typhon orders his forces to kill and plunder.
- As the Legion descends, G-4 raises the alarm. Zhikai calls for reinforcements, then spots Typhon diving directly toward him with a massive anchor.
- Zhikai tries to draw Typhon away from the troops and strikes him with a powerful sword slash. The attack barely slows Typhon, who continues bearing down on him.
Character developments and interactions
- Typhon is portrayed as an enormous, frighteningly durable monster who relishes the Navy’s fear and intends to destroy the fortress. He deliberately targets Zhikai, using his sharp senses to track him.
- Zhikai responds with urgent courage: despite realizing he cannot withstand Typhon head-on, he attempts to protect nearby soldiers and create an opening to escape.
- The Navy soldiers are overwhelmed by Typhon’s appearance and Conqueror’s Haki, while the command staff scramble to respond. Typhon’s approach gives them almost no time to act.
Significant themes
- The limits of military strength: G-4’s troops and defenses are formidable, but Typhon’s individual power threatens to make them irrelevant.
- Fear and overwhelming force: Typhon uses his appearance and Haki to terrorize his opponents before impact.
- Courage against impossible odds: Zhikai fights not because he expects to win, but to give others a chance to survive.
- Strategic vulnerability: The Navy’s dispersed forces and severed links between branches leave even a major fortress exposed.
