Ch. 841Defeat loomed, Gurado showed his might, and an attack struck
Plot points
- Hades reflects that Shiki’s side has lost the war after failing to exploit the Magnetic Storm Bombs’ temporary advantage. The Flying Pirates and the World Government have both suffered heavy losses, though the Government’s resources make it better positioned to recover.
- Shiki’s forces killed a Five Elder and a God’s Knight and damaged several major Government sites. The Flying Pirates, however, have lost many fighters with future potential, weakening their standing in the New World.
- At G-1 Fortress, Gurado gains the upper hand over Troll. His magma and volcanic ash steadily worsen Troll’s breathing and awareness; Gurado has spent more than four hours setting up this hidden attack.
- When Troll falters, Gurado lands a powerful Haki-coated punch, drives him into the ground, and pins him beneath the magma. Just as Gurado believes the fight is over, a powerful slash strikes from the side and sends him flying.
Character developments and interactions
- Hades views the war pragmatically, weighing its costs and concluding that the Flying Pirates can rebuild, though not quickly or to their former strength.
- Gurado is revealed as an exceptionally powerful and technically knowledgeable fighter: he has awakened his Volcano-Volcano Fruit, mastered advanced Haki, and uses his understanding of volcanic ash as a delayed, concealed weapon.
- Troll, despite his strength and elite training, is gradually overwhelmed by the hostile environment and Gurado’s patience. His worsening condition leaves him vulnerable to the finishing blow.
- Their contest shifts from an apparent stalemate to Gurado’s decisive advantage, but the unidentified attacker’s slash interrupts the outcome.
Significant themes
- War’s lasting cost: Victory or defeat comes at the price of lives, infrastructure, and lost potential.
- Preparation and expertise: Gurado wins ground not just through raw power, but through patience and specialized knowledge.
- Uncertainty in battle: Even when Gurado appears to have won, an unexpected intervention changes the situation.
