Background / History

• Guan Sheng is identified as Liangshan’s fifth-ranked hero and a descendant of Guan Yu. Yang Xiu summoned him into the Flame Emperor Sect 8.
• While stationed near Notting Academy, he taught Tang San the Guan family’s ancestral Dragging-Blade Technique. Tang San reached minor mastery and earned Guan Sheng’s respect; Guan Sheng later accompanied him into the Star Dou Great Forest, where Tang San obtained the Eight Spider Lances 12 15.
• On reaching level 90, Guan Sheng chose Secret Realm trials that required him to defeat, rather than kill, a hundred-thousand-year Soul Beast. After advancing to level 95, he followed Yang Xiu’s advice to consolidate his cultivation 18.
• He subsequently claimed his ancestor’s legacy, reaching level 97. At Shrek, he defeated Sword Douluo Chen Xin in a duel arranged to settle a dispute between their sects 21 28.

Guan Sheng is a burly, red-faced man whose proud expression is immediately noticeable 18.

• Carries an Azure Dragon Crescent Moon Blade, also called the Green Dragon Crescent Blade 8 18.

Personality

Guan Sheng is proud of his family’s martial tradition but speaks respectfully to Yang Xiu. He judges risks carefully: in the Secret Realm, he rejected a reward that required killing a hundred-thousand-year Soul Beast because wounding one would not guarantee he could stop it escaping 18.

His patience is shorter when others refuse to listen. He tried to explain that Xiao Wu was safe to Er Ming, then beat the Titan Giant Ape after Er Ming attacked; he held back once it was clear the clash was a misunderstanding 26.

Abilities & Skills

Dragging-Blade Technique

An inherited Guan-family technique enhanced by the summoning system into an active skill. Its blade energy takes the form of a green dragon, and an unleashed strike is guaranteed to hit 8.

• At level 86, it let Guan Sheng contend with Titled Douluos of level 95 and below 8.
• Three consecutive slashes dispersed three opponents in his level-90 Secret Realm trial. He could not immediately use it again and rested before his next challenge 18.
• He later used it to gravely wound a hundred-thousand-year Soul Beast 18.

Blade Combat

• Defeated the last opponent in his four-person trial in a half-hour, one-on-one fight after temporarily exhausting his Dragging-Blade Technique 18.
• Overwhelmed Sword Douluo with lethal fighting techniques, but struck him with the back of his blade. Sword Douluo conceded before using his ultimate technique 28.

Martial Instruction

• Taught Tang San the Dragging-Blade Technique, including the Guan family’s ancestral secrets 12.
• Took Tang San to seek a Man Faced Demon Spider; Tang San obtained the Eight Spider Lances External Soul Bone on that trip 15.

Relationships

• Yang Xiu — summoned Guan Sheng and leads him as Sect Master; guided his Secret Realm and Legacy Tower choices 8 18 20.
• Tang San — his martial-arts disciple. Guan Sheng takes pride in Tang San’s progress and expects him to become stronger than himself 12 29.
• Tang Hao — Tang San’s father; the two get along fairly well. Guan Sheng invited him to spar after his injuries healed, but Tang Hao declined 25 29.
• Hua Xiong — fellow sect fighter; Hua Xiong reported Guan Sheng’s level-90 breakthrough to Yang Xiu and later helped resolve Guan Sheng’s clash with Er Ming 18 26.
