Ch. 1A Stranger from Another World
Key plot points and events
- Yang Xiu awakens in the body of a fifteen-year-old orphan on the Douluo Continent, inheriting the boy’s memories and recognizing that he has entered a world he knows from fiction. The original boy died in a fall from a cliff.
- Though he has reached Soul Power level 31, Yang Xiu is troubled by his poor Soul Ring configuration: one white ring and two yellow ones.
- A system appears, offering missions, summons, and a shop. Its beginner gift gives Yang Xiu two Unrestricted Martial Strength Pills, a Martial Soul Evolution Pill, an Advanced Summoning Card, and a Dragon Soul Spear.
- The pills raise his Soul Power by nine levels, to 40, while the evolution pill upgrades his Divine Shadow Leopard into a top-tier Martial Soul. He also gains the god-tier Dragon Soul Spear. His transformed physique and unusually strong spirit allow him to absorb a Ten Thousand Year Soul Ring as his fourth.
- Yang Xiu uses his Advanced Summoning Card to summon Hua Xiong, a level 91 Soul Douluo with a standard nine-ring configuration. Summoned figures retain their combat experience, receive basic knowledge of the world, and are completely loyal to Yang Xiu.
- The system reveals that Tang San is only eight and has just begun his third year at Nuoding City’s academy. Yang Xiu decides he has time to grow stronger and pursue a larger plan: helping people of Yanhuang heritage make their mark in this world.
- Three missions appear: acquire a Ten Thousand Year Soul Ring; recruit five people and found a sect; and reach level 50 within a year. Their rewards include improved Soul Rings, pills, summoning cards, and Soul Coins. Yang Xiu and Hua Xiong head toward the Star Dou Great Forest to seek his fourth ring.
Character developments
- Yang Xiu shifts from bewildered newcomer to ambitious planner. His new powers give him a strong start, and he resolves to build influence while trying to prevent Tang San from repeating his original hardships.
- Hua Xiong enters as Yang Xiu’s powerful, disciplined, and loyal first summon. Yang Xiu treats him as a fellow countryman and asks him to use the informal title “Young Lord.”
