At the thought, Alexander Pierce's lips curled into a smug smile.
"Interesting. Very interesting."
He rose and walked to the holographic projector beside the control room, his fingers gliding rapidly across the console.
The projection lit up. Steve Rogers's vital signs, genetic map, cell activity curves, Super Soldier Serum metabolism rate... vast streams of data cascaded through the air.
Pierce scanned the data, glanced at the Tesseract on the table, then looked back at Captain Marvel, who was fighting a bloody battle on the screen.
"Carol Danvers. A fragment of the Tesseract was enough to create Captain Marvel."
"What if we used the complete Tesseract to create a captain for Hydra?"
He turned to an agent. "What's Captain America's condition?"
"His vital signs are stable. The Super Soldier Serum is rapidly repairing his injuries. He should be fully mobile within twelve hours."
"But his willpower is exceptionally strong. Conventional interrogation hasn't worked, and an implanted mind-control chip has no effect on his enhanced nervous system."
Pierce waved a hand. "No interrogation. We don't need to control him yet, either."
"Right now, all I need is his body."
"The Super Soldier Serum gave him physical abilities beyond human limits. Add his Vibranium Shield and combat experience, and he's the strongest soldier on Earth."
"If we add the Tesseract's power to that foundation..."
Pierce's gaze seemed to pierce through time, glimpsing a future that filled him with delight.
"Wouldn't a Super Soldier under our control, wielding the Tesseract's power, be far more useful than the Captain Marvel Nick Fury relies on?"
The agent hesitated. "But Mr. Pierce, the Tesseract's energy is extremely violent. According to our files, Carol Danvers nearly exploded after absorbing just one fragment.
"If Kree blood hadn't transformed her, she might not have survived at all."
"Captain America's body
