Obito Uchiha spoke so casually that it was hard not to believe him. Even so, Kakashi still had his doubts.
Minato Namikaze saw that this standoff would lead nowhere. Worse, if it dragged on, they might lose their chance to act first.
So Minato decided to take the initiative. "If you want the Nine-Tails, that isn't impossible. But I have one condition!"
Obito gave him a contemptuous smile. "You think you're in a position to bargain with me?"
Minato gritted his teeth. "If you insist on causing trouble, you won't get out of Konoha easily. Once Lord Yin hears about this, I'd like to see how you plan to escape!"
Obito's brows drew together sharply. He looked furious, but he had no answer.
After all, even someone as powerful as Madara Uchiha had died at Uchiha Yin's hands. How long could he himself hold out?
Obito could only swallow his frustration and ask, "What's your condition?"
Minato slowly breathed a sigh of relief. If Obito was willing to listen, there might still be a way out.
But Minato did not dare let any trace of relief show on his face.
"It's simple. Have the person you've hidden over there come to me."
As he spoke, Minato pointed toward the crowd where White Zetsu stood.
Kakashi followed his finger and spotted someone in the crowd with a suspicious expression.
Only then did he understand why Minato had stopped him from acting earlier.
He could not help marveling at how underhanded these people were.
But Minato's words did not worry him. He knew Minato well.
Minato would never betray the village so easily. This had to be a delaying tactic. Kakashi played along. "Lord Minato, you can't do this! The Nine-Tails is far too important to Konoha!"
