But Kisame had not expected Obito Uchiha's reaction. Far from getting angry, Obito looked less suspicious than before. He chuckled. "That works too. As long as you help us get things done!" Compared with Juzo Biwa's ready agreement, Kisame's suspicion and hostility put him much more at ease.
After all, people were easier to control when they had something to lose. Juzo Biwa breathed a quiet sigh of relief, though he kept his expression calm. "Fine. I'm curious to see what you're capable of, anyway."
Obito Uchiha nodded. "All right. I'll leave you to talk. I'm heading out." Without waiting to see their reactions, he turned and left. The day had taken a great deal out of him, and he wanted to get back and rest.
That left Uchiha Itachi and the other two staring at one another, none of them quite sure what to do. They all understood that they would be leaving their villages behind and would have only one another to rely on. For a moment, a sense of kinship passed between them.
Meanwhile, in Kirigakure, Mei Terumi sat with a peculiar expression on her face. She wanted to be angry, but she could only hold it in.
Uchiha Yin watched her from the side and struggled not to laugh. In the end, he let out a couple of chuckles. "Don't be angry. I didn't see this coming either. Who knew he'd get snatched away the moment he went out?"
Mei looked thoroughly aggrieved. "All right, I know. I'm not blaming you. I'm just frustrated!" She turned her head away and folded her arms.
Yin smiled. "All right, all right. I knew you'd be generous about it. When I find someone suitable, I'll send them your way. How's that?"
