But fortunately, she was still confident in her ninjutsu.

The illusion she had modified, the Temple of Nirvana Technique, was far less effective against people stronger than she was or highly resistant to illusions. Still, she believed she was considerably stronger than Uchiha Yin. Putting him into a deep sleep should be no problem.

That meant Yin's turning over had clearly been nothing more than an instinctive movement.

After reassuring herself of this, Uchiha Mikoto breathed a sigh of relief and patted her chest. I scared myself over nothing.

Once she was sure Yin was fast asleep, Mikoto stopped feeling nervous and took a closer look at him.

His smooth, fair face had sharply defined features; his dark, deep-set eyes held a captivating gleam. His thick brows, straight nose, and beautifully shaped lips all gave him an air of elegance.

"Who would've thought that brat with the awful personality would grow up to be so handsome?"

Mikoto spoke softly.

"Really? Thanks for the compliment."

Just then, Yin opened his eyes and spoke to her.

"Ah!!!!!"

Mikoto let out a piercing shriek, her face turning bright red in an instant.

"Y-you're still awake?"

"Why am I still awake? Shouldn't you be the one explaining yourself?"

Yin spoke with a mischievous grin.

A sudden urge to tease Mikoto had come over him. He wanted to give her a scare.

Judging by her reaction, it had worked remarkably well. Her shriek had been so loud, though, that his ears hurt.

Fortunately, their house was well insulated against sound. Otherwise, she might have woken the neighbors.

Yin's question left Mikoto speechless. She had come here solely because of her system's task, but how was she supposed to explain that?

Mikoto did not want to reveal her system, so she needed a reasonable excuse.

She was terrible at lying. As she racked her brain for an excuse, she stammered and glanced this way and that, which Yin found especially cute.

"Hey, Mikoto, don't tell me you've fallen for me?"

Yin spoke teasingly.

But embarrassment could only go so far before it turned into something else. When Mikoto saw Yin's mischievous grin, she suddenly grew bold for reasons she could not explain.

"What are you thinking, you little brat? Your mind really is full of dirty thoughts."

Mikoto gave Yin a fierce glare as she scolded him.

"Don't get any ideas. Go to sleep."

As though that were not enough, Mikoto added one more line.
