But for Konan, those tasks were far too easy. There was little point in taking them.
Hiruzen Sarutobi saw Uchiha Yin's expression and knew what he was thinking.
"Yin, this may be your first time as a team leader, so you might not realize it. For students on their first mission, it's enough to let them see blood and build up their nerve..."
Hiruzen Sarutobi tried to persuade him.
"Old man, I get it. I'll take it, all right?" Uchiha Yin rolled his eyes.
"But one mission isn't enough. Give me another one too, or I'll have to come all the way back to pick one up."
Uchiha Yin waited for his answer.
He understood Hiruzen Sarutobi's point and had no intention of rejecting his good intentions. Still, he truly doubted that killing bandits would pose any challenge for Konan.
"All right, let me see if there's another mission." Hiruzen Sarutobi sighed inwardly at Uchiha Yin's impatience and searched through the mission pile again.
"Here's one. If you take it, those bandits will be on your way."
Hiruzen Sarutobi pulled out another mission scroll and handed it to Uchiha Yin.
Uchiha Yin looked at the mission in his hand, his gaze sharpening.
Rōran mission. Rank C.
Long-buried memories surfaced in Uchiha Yin's mind.
Seeing that Uchiha Yin seemed interested, Hiruzen Sarutobi explained.
"Several murders have occurred in Rōran recently, but they still haven't found the killer."
"And the Queen of Roran is on good terms with Konoha, so she entrusted the mission to us." Hiruzen Sarutobi looked rather pleased with himself.
Rōran lay on the border of the Land of Wind. Ordinarily, a mission like this would have gone to Sunagakure.
But after Sunagakure's defeat, and for various other reasons, the Queen of Roran had entrusted it to Konoha instead.
