"An S-Rank Mission: destroy Iwagakure's food reserves. Just the thing for you."
Destroying Iwagakure's food reserves sounded difficult enough to deserve an S-rank classification.
Generally speaking, missions came in many forms and were divided into several ranks.
D-Rank Missions were the sort Naruto and the others had taken on at the beginning in the original story: weeding, picking up trash, and the like.
On a C-Rank Mission, they might encounter bandits, but
