After fighting alongside Hiruzen Sarutobi for so long, Enma knew his Ninjutsu well.
He clicked his tongue and hurried out of the Barrier's range.
Then, inside the Barrier, Manda swallowed Orochimaru whole.
A moment later came a pop, and a cloud of white smoke vanished within the Barrier.
Enma watched with a look of regret. "Hiruzen, have you gotten rusty in your old age?"
The Third heard the obvious jab but did not get angry. Instead, he chuckled. "Maybe I really am getting old."
His words sounded resigned, but his expression looked more like relief.
Enma might have been the Third's fighting partner, but human emotions had always baffled him.
He shook his head helplessly. "That brat's escaped now. I'll head back?"
The Third smiled. "All right. Thanks for the effort, Enma!"
Enma smiled, then vanished on the spot with a pop.
The Third stood amid the ruins, deep in thought.
