Kavelyn froze at Su Yi's words. "What big thing?"
Su Yi smiled. "I got my hands on something good."
"If it works, it could completely reverse our faltering invasion of the Redstone Empire."
"And if your performance satisfies me, this massive explosion might take you to the heights you've been aiming for."
Kavelyn's heart surged at his words.
She no longer doubted Su Yi's strength. Even when he made promises that sounded too good to be true, she instinctively believed there might be something to them.
But Kavelyn had spent years moving among rival factions without letting a speck of their filth touch her. She was far too shrewd to show her hand so easily.
"What exactly would satisfy you, Expedition Warmaster?"
Leaning back in her chair, Kavelyn said casually, "I can think of dozens of possibilities."
"I could excel at every one of them without much trouble. But I have no interest in becoming some big shot's personal plaything."
Su Yi laughed. "So you're saying there's no deal?"
"Of course not," Kavelyn replied at once.
