Charizard had lost.
It had been a crushing defeat, and Alain was stunned.
As he understood it, Pokémon battled under their Trainers' commands.
That was common sense!
But today's battle had turned everything he knew on its head. As a Trainer, he'd felt utterly useless.
He'd barely had time to call out "Flamethrower" before the battle was over.
What the hell was that?
How was anyone supposed to compete with that?
How could you even call it a Pokémon battle? It made no sense!
Alain's confidence crumbled.
"The battle's over, Old Charizard. Take a break."
Xu Mu motioned for Charizard to stop.
His opponent was already on the ground and couldn't fight back. There was no reason to keep going.
Old Charizard obeyed, rising reluctantly and shaking his head in disappointment.
That was it?
The kid couldn't take a hit?
"Celebi, thanks for the effort!"
The fight was over and Old Charizard had let off steam, but Xu Mu still had Celebi heal the other Charizard.
"Thank you!"
Alain stood dazed for a moment, then came to his senses and thanked Xu Mu.
Xu Mu smiled and shook his head, indicating it was nothing.
Privately, he could only shake his head. Alain had always looked so formidable in the anime that you'd think he was some big shot.
But in person, wasn't he just a kid?
I beat him up, and he's thanking me for it. He's still so young.
Old Charizard rubbed his nose, looking a little embarrassed himself.
That really was picking on a kid.
"You came from another world, didn't you?"
Xu Mu studied Alain, then decided to be kind and have a talk with him.
