Cynthia's cooking really was something else!
This stuff wasn't fit for human consumption.
That was what Jessie thought, anyway.
But she stubbornly told Cynthia, "No, no. I was just remembering the old days. My family was poor when I was little, so this is my first time eating anything this good."
Hearing their exchange over the phone, Xu Mu quickly said to Cynthia, "You two go ahead and eat. I've still got something to take care of here. Once it's all over, I'll come home and spend time with you."
After Cynthia answered, Xu Mu hung up at once.
He was afraid that if he kept listening, he wouldn't be able to stop himself from going home to rescue Jessie.
Back at the house, Jessie was struggling to survive. She felt worse than dead. This was supposed to be a dinner invitation, so how had it turned into a death sentence?
Worst of all, she had no choice but to eat. Cynthia was sitting right beside her.
With both hands cupping her face, Cynthia watched Jessie expectantly. Jessie couldn't say a thing. All she could do was eat in silence.
She felt worse than dead. For a moment, she had the urge to run away.
Maybe I should just go back... This world isn't for me. Sob!
Jessie was normally blunt and hot-tempered.
In her original world, she often ordered James and Meowth around during missions while rarely doing any of the actual work herself.
But Jessie was also a kind person. Back in her original world, she would help Silly Thing and his friends when they needed it.
Cynthia, meanwhile, was strong-willed. Once Jessie found herself up against her, there was no escaping, no avoiding her...
