He could no longer make his ideals a reality.
He had once firmly believed that the world had no need for unequal justice.
The claim that justice would always triumph over evil was itself a form of unequal justice.
Worse, using that baseless lie to coax people into doing good was an unforgivable evil.
Such ideas served only those in power.
They needed a world whose people had been taught to obey. If everyone was bent on being good, no one would defy their control or rise up against them.
Then those at the top of the pyramid could keep wearing their masks of virtue, passing down the wealth they had amassed by any means necessary, generation after generation.
Good deeds went unrewarded, while evil deeds carried no consequences. That was the true face of the world.
And so Greedy Wolf had decided to reveal the truth to the world through absolute evil.
Rather than let people suffer attack after attack beneath a veneer of goodwill until things became too far gone, he would make everyone experience absolute evil. People of every class would receive the same treatment.
He would drag those at the top of the pyramid down from their pedestals. They could invoke the "sanctity of private property" all they liked; their dreams of using bloodstained wealth amassed over a lifetime to benefit generations to come would be shattered. Like ordinary people, they would live under absolute rule, gripped by fear.
Then there would be no fundamental difference between people. Class conflict, racial discrimination, and divisions between the sexes would all disappear.
No one would complain that fate had treated them unfairly. Nor would anyone be born with a silver spoon in their mouth, enjoying privileges denied to others from birth.
What a wonderful world that would be...
