Background

Becca raises Ryan alone in a secluded house surrounded by forest and enclosed by a wall. She recognizes that the refuge is also a form of captivity, but values the safety it gives them. When four-year-old Ryan asks about his father, she tells him the man is dead; she later describes him as someone who failed as both a husband and a father 1 2 10.

As Ryan grows more independent, Becca worries about his long absences and keeps trying to spend time with him. Madelyn eventually arrives to recruit Ryan for The Seven. Becca refuses to leave them alone, but Madelyn’s guards force her outside. Ryan chooses to go and asks Madelyn to provide Becca with money, housing, and a job if she ever wants to leave the estate 4 6 11.

Ryan later returns with Homelander. Becca embraces her son but greets Homelander with open hostility. She nevertheless prepares a meal for all three. Personality

Becca is protective, affectionate, and quick to worry when Ryan disappears. She often expresses care through meals, warnings, teasing, and mock complaints rather than direct declarations. His independence leaves her lonely, though she generally avoids pressing him about secrets she knows he will not explain 2 4 5 10.

She is less guarded about her dislike of Homelander: she insults him to his face and refuses to share a room with him. Her sharp humor also extends to Ryan, whom she teases even during their reunion 33 34.
