Young Miss Olmedo, who had vanished for several days, slammed the latest issue of Rikaner Glory down in front of the councilors.
Earlier that day, he had fled back from outside the city with the remnants of his forces. Whatever battle he had been through had left him covered in wounds and wearing an eyepatch. When he learned the House of Representatives was discussing negotiations with Free City, he barged in.
The guards did not dare stop the "Junior Council Chairman," who was still fighting for the Kingdom. They let him into the Council Hall.
The councilors who knew Annan's identity said nothing. The others either followed their lead and watched or feared that speaking up would draw the "Mad Dog Court Director's" attention. They stayed silent too.
For a moment, the Council Hall fell silent.
"Why aren't you saying anything? Have you secretly thrown in your lot with the Blade of Freedom already?!"
One councilor coughed softly... That was exactly what they had in mind. Quite a few had secretly made contact with the forces outside the city over the past few days, and some were even wondering whether to seize the stubborn Young Miss Olmedo as a token of allegiance.
Amid the silence, Young Miss Olmedo snorted. "Whatever you think, the Kingdom hasn't lost yet! Where's the King? I want to see the King!"
